Bangladesh Settlement Inundation Analysis
Map figures created in a geospatial research project analyzing the intersection of settlement inundation in Bangladesh since 1990 using global population and water occurrence datasets. The first two map figures depict population loss (in dark brown) and increased annual water area (in dark blue) in administrative sub districts. Sub district locations that saw both increased water area and population loss since 1990 led to the creation of the third figure of inundation 'hotspot' regions in Bangladesh.
Final findings of Bangladesh settlement inundation analysis. Figure depicts side by side comparison of inundation kernel density versus occurrence points. Left figure displays kernel density with red areas being areas of high settlement inundation. Right figure displays locations of settlements inundated with areas greater than two standard deviations from the mean (mean inundation area of approximately 7,900 square meters).
